How a contractor actually diagnoses it
- They check the drain pan. Standing water in the pan means the line is not carrying.
- They check whether the safety float switch has tripped — on many systems that is why the unit has stopped rather than a fault with the air conditioner.
- They clear the line, usually by vacuuming from the outlet end or blowing it through from the access tee.
- They flush the line and confirm flow at the discharge point outside.
